A six-member task force set up after a pair of deadly blazes in San Francisco this year is planning to call for stricter standards for fire alarms in apartment buildings.
The group, which includes top officials from four city departments, plans to recommend Tuesday that San Francisco’s fire and housing codes be amended to require that fire alarm systems in all apartment buildings be loud enough to wake sleeping residents.
