The San Francisco Public Press and KALW co-hosted a live panel discussion about San Francisco’s propositions C and D, the competing business tax measures, at KALW’s gathering space at 220 Montgomery St. on May 19.
Proposition D, also known as the “Overpaid CEO Tax,” would expand and raise an executive pay tax. It pits labor groups against business interests in a fight over wage inequality and city finances. (See our latest story.)
Proposition C would cut taxes and city revenue. Supporters introduced the measure in reaction to proposition D, and call it relief for struggling employers. Critics say it’s a corporate tax break that could deepen budget shortfalls as San Francisco faces a $936 million deficit. (See our latest story.)
