The San Francisco Public Press is delighted to welcome San Francisco journalist Cami Dominguez as a California Local News Fellow.

“I am super excited to be joining a newsroom that I’ve long admired,” they said. “Getting this fellowship means the world — it allows me to fully immerse myself in the work I love, within a city that has given me so much.”

Cami will report on San Francisco’s Latino communities and bring attention to perspectives that are crucial to the fabric of city life.

A 2025 graduate of San Francisco State University, Cami previously reported for KQED News and El Tecolote.

Cami said they developed an interest in journalism in 2016, when they first began to understand the degree to which media coverage could influence election outcomes. They made it their personal mission to amplify the voices of overlooked communities.

Cami is one of 38 early-career journalists who will work in local newsrooms across the state for two years through the California Local News Fellowship based at the University of California, Berkeley. These reporters represent the third cohort of a state-funded program designed to promote coverage of California’s diverse communities. The newsrooms these fellows work in cover more than 90% of the state’s population.

You can keep up with Cami’s reporting by signing up for our newsletter. Support their work and our whole newsroom team by donating to the Public Press.
