San Francisco’s third results update brings the count to 184,737 ballots. Nearly all precincts have reported in-person results, but that doesn’t mean counting is nearly finished: mail ballots still need processing, and more can arrive after Election Day.
Propositions
The closest local proposition is getting closer. Proposition B, the public bank proposal, trails by just 642 votes, with 49.81% voting yes.
Other measures have much more breathing room. Muni funding Proposition H has 72.45% support, and Housing Trust Fund Proposition C has 79.86%. Proposition G, which would bring cars back to the Upper Great Highway on weekdays, faces 62.80% opposition.
Mayor Daniel Lurie’s government overhaul measures remain ahead, including Proposition D at 57.76% — a substantial lead, though down from the previous report.
Candidates
Supervisor Stephen Sherrill has a commanding 84.18% of first-choice votes in District 2. Alan Wong leads in District 4, Matt Dorsey leads in District 6, Gary McCoy leads in District 8, and Theo Ellington leads in District 10.
The congressional contest is more competitive: Scott Wiener leads Connie Chan, 55.44% to 44.56%.
The process
These remain leads, not race calls. The Associated Press estimates roughly half the congressional vote has been counted. The city’s 96% figure measures precincts reporting in-person results, not all ballots. Ballots postmarked by Election Day can still be counted if they arrive by Nov. 10, according to the state’s official deadline, so more votes may arrive in the coming days. The next city update is scheduled for 11:45 p.m.
