Dana Strome lives in San Francisco with her husband, two dogs and no less than 50 parrots. Founder of the Wing Foundation – a nonprofit dedicated to the rescue of abused and abandoned parrots – Strome works in emergency rooms by day and is a bird shrink by night. She enlists veterinarians for their physical care, but her Mission District apartment serves as the birds’ emotional rehabilitation grounds.
