Uzuri Pease-Greene leads a nonprofit, has run for office, overcome homelessness, and improved safety for public housing residents. She’s the executive director of C.A.R.E., the Community Awareness Resources Entity. We talked about building connections across and within neighborhoods, and her work as an advocate for the under-served.

“A couple people told me that I shouldn’t run because I live in public housing… so that tipped the scale because, I’m definitely running.” — Uzuri Pease-Greene

I host and report for “Civic,” a San Francisco public affairs radio show and podcast from the Public Press. I've been a multimedia reporter and producer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. I've reported on housing, health, immigration and homelessness for local news site Mission Local and produced conversations about local, regional and national current affairs for “Your Call,” a live call-in program on KALW-FM public radio.
