According to the San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau, 2008 was a record year for tourism in the city.

The 16.4 million visitors to the city brought in $8.52 billion and contributed towards more than 72,000 local jobs. However, experts say they fear 2009 may not be as successful due to the global economic crisis.

A Forbes recent survey, which publishes the world’s most stylish cities, ranks San Francisco at No. 9, after it missed out on a position in last year's list.
